My Cake Creations

Allie's birthday is Friday and I have been looking for a fun cake to make. I thought I would share some of my past creations. I love making them and they are always a big hit with the kids. At least someday when they are all in therapy they can at least say, "My mom always made us really cool birthday cakes every year!"

WHY?

We have been plagued for many years by Tanner's strange obsession with sleeping in strange and often cramped places. In the above picture we found him in Savannah's port a crib. He is obviously too big for this crib! On other occasions he has slept on the floor of the closet and the bath tub just too name a few. "Why?" one might ask, inquiring minds do want to know? And now you may be wondering why I am even writing about this will here goes...
This morning I came down at 7:15 am to wake up Tanner and Allie. We have 9:00 church and I hate it when our Sunday mornings are rushed and crazy. Carl had already left due to early morning meetings. I then proceeded to get the little girls into the tub and continue to holler to Tanner after Allie came up and was eating breakfast. I'm beginning to get a little frustrated because I haven't seen Tanner yet nor has he responded to my now screams to "Get out of bed!" I know, I hope you aren't shocked to find out that I am indeed a screamer on occasion. I am always filled with guilt about this when I think of Sister Hinkley or read Elder Holland's conference talk. I try I really do. Back on track... So I go stomping down the stairs to find that his bed is made. At first I'm thinking that he is trying to pull a fast one on me and he is all dressed and ready to go. But then I remember who we are dealing with here and I am trying to remember if I even looked at his bed when I opened the door and turned on his light. So Allie and I start searching the house for him and calling his name. After 45 minutes I call Carl at the church to make sure that he doesn't have him or know where he is. He doesn't but he leaves the church and comes right home. I am in a panic because I can't imagine that Tanner would have just left that is completely out of character so then I start having Jon Benet thoughts. I mean I know he isn't a beauty pageant queen or anything but what if some perv came in and took him. Then Allie says, "Is his bike here?" So I go out to the garage to look. I have been out there and yelled his name already. Then I see something in the car. I run down the stairs and open the door to find him in the very back with the seats down fast asleep with one blanket and his pillow. At this point I really started screaming do to the fact that my mind has gone crazy with worry and now I find him in the most ridiculous place ever sleeping and I'm not dressed or ready for church and need to leave in 30 minutes. He can't answer why he would want to sleep in the car when it is freezing outside and snowing. We can only hope that he has been embarrassed enough to never sleep any where except his bed because his Dad had to leave ward council to go search for his missing son and they all found out where we found him. Pretty sure he isn't going to live this one down anytime soon. But I am still left to ask, "WHY?"

Easter Morning

Morgan wrote a letter to the Easter Bunny and told him about her tonsils and asked him if he could please bring her some chocolate pudding and he delivered. Shortly after these pictures were taken Morgan stood up and said, "I'm going to puke!" Unfortunately, she didn't make it too far and threw up in Savannah's Easter basket. Savannah started crying and screaming, "She puked in my basket!" I don't think we will be forgetting this Easter anytime soon!

The Colors of Easter

Magic Crayon

Savannah could not believe the
"magic" crayon. It is the coolest
thing ever. After she put her egg
in the dye and could see what she
had drawn was staying white she
kept saying, "Can you believe how
magic that crayon is, it's definitely
a "magic" crayon!"

Decorating Easter Eggs

Morgie came from her death bed (at least that is what it smells like) to decorate a couple of eggs and then quickly went back to bed begging for mom to come snuggle with her.

No More Tonsils for Morgie

I'm not really sure if Morgan even knows what it feels like to really feel good. We joke about her having a weak constitution but its probably not really funny, especially for her. Morgan has had three sets of tubes in her ears, has severe allergies and is asthmatic to boot. She has her on little pharmacy of meds. The doctors have been recommending for awhile that she get her tonsils taken out but she really hasn't been well enough to go under. (Really scary experience when she was a little wheezy when they did one of her tubes and they had to inti bate her) So needless to say I'm a little nervous about her and general anesthesia. But with her new drugs she has been pretty good so we decided to go for it. Poor thing is wishing that we hadn't. She hardly ever complains about being sick. In fact three weeks ago she had strept throat and I finally took her to the doctor only because she ran a fever for five days. Have you ever had strept throat?! She is being a trooper but definitely not feeling good and experiencing a lot of referred pain in her ears. We just keep telling her how much better she will feel in a couple of weeks. It will all be worth it, right?

Savannah Bee

Savannah was the hit at dance when she wore her bumble bee leotard. All of the other little girls were having a hard time paying attention because they kept wanting to touch and talk about Savannah's "dress". It was so cute and she knew that she was cute too! Mom's were asking where we got it. Thanks Grandma and Papa you found the perfect gift for our little bee!

Mini Me

How funny is this? I had gone to bed early and Morgan came in to snuggle. When Carl came to bed here is how he found us sound asleep. Is there such a thing as genetic sleeping tendencies?

MY "McDreamy" of 14 Years!

Funny story...
I ran into the receptionist of our pediatrition's office and she says, "I was going to call you and tell you what I overheard two moms in the waiting room talking about." She goes on to say that these ladies were talking about the physical therapist that is working with one of their parents and that he is so wonderful etc. etc. His name is Carl and he is so good looking - I swear he is my McDreamy! I laughed and told Carl about it later.
I guess I could have gotten jealous but really it just made me feel really lucky. Carl is wonderful and handsome but he is so much more. He is a man of integrity, humility and kindness. He radiates goodness! He leads our family by example. He is an amazing father. When I watch him with our children I fall deeper in love. We celebrated 14 years of marriage on the 19th of March and I would marry him again and again. So when I was going through pictures and I came across this one of him holding Morgie I thought, "Carl the PT you are so handsome and you are MY McDreamy!"

Elder Spencer

Spencer called the beginning of March to tell us that he was being ordained an Elder on the 16th of March and that he would love for Carl to be there. We absolutely would not have missed it for anything. So we pawned our children off on some friends and drove straight through. I loved every minute of having my husband to myself as well as seeing everyone we love and miss so much. We are so proud of Spencer and the man that he is. After the ordination Spencer made a few comments and I couldn't help but cry knowing that what we just witnessed was and is the reality of the Atonement of Jesus Christ! Our Savior truly does know and love us best!

Dr. Seuss

One Friday a month I go to Morgan's kindergarten class for Story Snack. I bring a book to read to the class and a snack to go along with it. For February it was the Friday before Dr. Seuss' birthday so I brought the Cat In The Hat to read and made these darling little snacks. They were a BIG hit and I kinda felt like a cool Mom!

Missing Teeth...

Morgan has lost her two bottom teeth and her top ones won't be far behind. She waits and waits until they are barely hanging on by a thread and the new tooth is coming up right behind. Now that I think about it - it could be months before she loses the top ones!

Boy Scouts of America

February 2008
Tanner is feeling very motivated to get his Eagle. Dad has promised him a Wii when he has all of his requirements done up to his Eagle project. Which is a big deal considering that Carl is pretty much anti video games. Tanner can thank Uncle Shaun - when he came at Thanksgiving he brought his Wii and we had a blast. Carl boxed for hours and was sore for days! I'm not great on the scout lingo but Tanner advanced and got to pin his mother. After he pinned me he leaned down and kissed my forehead. My baby is growing up. I call him my Man Child!

We are very blessed Tanner has a great young mens program. He has great leaders and the boys are so good. We can only hope that they continue making good choices and that they continue to be a positive influence on one another.

Tanner is the youngest in his troop and is the tallest. It looks like he might have gotten some tall genes from the McLean side of the family. It won't be long before he is looking down at his Dad!

100th Day of School

Morgan's kindergarten class had a big party for the 100th day of school. Everyone had to bring 100 of something - Morgan brought 100 marshmellows.

Daddy Daughter Date (January 2008)

Carl tries to take each of the kids on a monthly date. For Allie's date this month she wanted to make a thermos of hot chocolate and go take pictures outside. They had a fabulous time and Allie took some really cool pics.
